Shipping Coordinator - 1st shift

Pro-Form has a immediate opening for a Shipping Coordinator at our manufacturing facility in Benicia, CA. 

Summary:

The Logistics coordinator prepares documentation, maintains records, and coordinates logistics for product shipment. Logistics coordinators must thoroughly document and keep track of their work in a neat and organized manner. They take the lead in communicating with customers (internal and external) and facilitating transactions. Logistics coordinator oversees orders inbound and outbound and the transfer of product that enters and leaves the warehouse to help ensure timely and safe deliveries to customers.  

Hours:​

Approximately 8:00 am till 4:30 pm with flexibility to cover shipping department needs and the availability for overtime.

 

This role will require a trial period through an Agency.   
It will be considered "Temp to Hire". 

Essential Functions:  

  • Prepares documentation, maintains records, and coordinates logistics for inbound and outbound product shipment.
  • Leads communications within the shipping area.  Schedules and coordinates both inbound and outbound domestic and international traffic
  • Maintains shipping records, including providing tracking or shipping history information to customers on request.
  • Prepares shipping paperwork (including loads) as well as completes shipping transaction in appropriate systems.
  • Provides support and drives finished goods and raw material (co-packer) product flow for inbound and outbound deliveries.
  • Works directly with purchasing and vendors coordinating inbound freight.
  • Reviews open customer orders, creates pick sheets on an as needed basis to efficiently meet   the customer shipping schedule and satisfy the requested ship dates.
  • Commits inventory upon shipping. Audits waiting-to-ship reports daily to ensure all paperwork has been created and invoicing is completed.
  • Coordinates the shipping of freight by contacting appropriate freight carriers.
  • Communicates shipping volumes/activities and priorities closely with management.
  • Formally documents new or changed procedures. Identifies who requires training and execute training if needed.
  • Effectively leads cross-functional root cause and corrective actions to resolve customer-related shipping issues.
  • Assists and supports Shipping Department with other related duties as needed.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information skillfully.

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Must display a willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.
  • Must be able to actively promote and personally observe safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing processes and equipment, general knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s) a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Excel, Word.

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years warehouse or shipping related experience.
  • Experience with WMS or ERP
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Prior forklift operation experience.
  • Experience using RF scanners a plus
  • Experience with TMS a plus

The Shipping Coordinator reports directly to the Shipping Manager  and works with others in different departments.
